The Male Teacher
I am strong, courageous
And at the same time compassionate.
But yet, you tell me this is not my place,
How dare you?
I’ve worked hard to get here
Just like you.
But yet, you accuse me of sinful thoughts
How dare you?
They’re my kids too.
Morning Prayer
As I walk through the door,
I pray that I can give you more
More than what they gave your ancestors
More than they would expect you to have
You are a smart child
Never let anyone tell you different
You can be what ever you aspire to be
Even if people try to tell you other wise
Keep your head in the books
And your eye on the prize
Separate yourself from negativity
Because are,
And will always watch you
But just remember that
You can
And will make it
Regardless.
Our Time
We have come a long ways
Thank God for his mighty power
No longer will we be at the end
For now is our time
Our time to soar
Our time to go beyond
Our time to enlighten
Our time to transform
We have come a long ways
And will keep on traveling
Kids of the Village
These are my kids
Everyday I hug them
and greet them in my room,
Teaching them
the foundations to life
One step at a time
Praying that all 18
Will beat the odds of life
Working diligently on the social skills
The way to react when presented with strife.
If they forget the things,
I’ve worked so hard to teach.
Let us all get along my friend
My friend, a friend, indeed.
